This weekend my niece came to help me pick out a Christmas tree. We love Christmas as a family, and picking out a perfect Christmas tree is one of the key pieces in our holiday celebrations. This year we had to find a new place to go and pick out a Christmas tree from due to our recent move, but we found a great place. We ended up with a beautiful 10 foot Christmas tree that we found in the mud and rain. It was totally worth it though! I can feel my dad in the room with the tree. It’s perfect in every way, from height, to shape, to prickliness of the needles (none), and the weight the branches can withstand. As a dessert my niece and I made oreos that taste like Jojo’s (from trader joe’s) which are our favorite cookies. I was inspired by Oh Sweet Basil‘s recipe for candy cane oreos.
For the dark chocolate peppermint oreos you need:
dark chocolate hershey kisses
peppermint hershey kisses
To start with you need to unwrap all the hershey kisses. Put each kind in its own bowl.
Then melt in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted.
Then put the sticks on the oreos.
Next dip the oreo in the dark chocolate.
Then put on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Then drizzle the melted peppermint hershey kisses on top.
Put in the freezer for about 10 minutes until its hard.
Then flip over and drizzle the other side. (Reheat the chocolate if needed)
Put in the freezer again until the other side is frozen, again about 10 minutes.
Now these are ready to eat and a super delicious dessert that is very festive but easy to make. Remember to live and let’s create!
